As Convicted By Christ (CBC) continues to look to the future, we have joined with the Four Corners Foundation (FCF) to address another community problem. Statewide, New Mexico is facing the problem of a growing prison population due to extremely high recidivism rates. Over half of all inmates released will return to prison within a year. Until CBC opened Byron’s House of Hope transitional program/home, there were no facilities for incarcerated men to serve out their parole in San Juan County. There is a growing need for residential facilities for men being released from prison or jail, many who are husbands and fathers, to serve out their parole in a safe and stable environment while receiving counseling and learning life-skills to become stable, responsible providers for their families, homes and communities.
Bryon’s House of Hope (BHH), named after Byron Boyd, co-founder of Convicted by Christ, became a reality on January 1st 2018. Only clean and sober, non-sex offenders will be accepted into the mandatory 6-month program. BHH is faith-based, state-approved and structured from proven models with strict house rules, directing residents to appropriate support services, finding employment, financial management, and various life-skill course requirements. Bryon’s House of Hope meets an important need in our community and will help many men successfully re-enter society as functional, self-sufficient members.
Sparks is a children’s program, ages birth to early teens. While men and women are participating in the weekly recovery group meetings, their children attend a program that provides stability, structure, learning support and life skills training for these at-risk
As a “band of brothers”, Convicted By Christ provides support and accountability to men coming from prison—men working to be free from addictions, past life patterns, and mental instabilities so that these men can integrate back into healthy lives, families and communities.
Along with God, Convicted By Christ is here to help men be transformed and break the bondages of whatever “their prison” may be.
Biblical Scriptures that are foundational and have shaped Convicted By Christ:
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10—Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!
Proverbs 27:17—As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.
Isaiah 42: 7—to open eyes that are blind, to free captives from prison and to release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness.
